My boyfriend and I have been waiting to get a pomeranian since January. Finally, at the end of July, our lease will end and we will move into a petfriendly apartment. This means that puppies are being born now that will be ready at the perfect time. I live in Miami FL, and was just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with any breeders anywhere near me. I'm willing to drive a bit of course. As of right now I am looking at IrenasPomeranians in Orlando. I feel as though she has too many dogs to be a really responsible breeder. Any thoughts?
Hi Chelsee, I responded to you on my page, but just in case others are reading, I thought I would respond here so that you can keep all your info together.
First, my "hat's off to you" for your patience! I have NO patience. LOL
I looked at Irena's pom website. It is funny cuz I looked at it first before I read your above comment, and when I was looking at it I was thinking "wow, she sure has a lot of dogs". But my other first impression was that all of them look like they are very well cared for, they seem to have beds inside and I can tell a fenced yard also. Everything in the pictures looks clean and organized.
I know Orlando is quite a drive from Miami, but I think it is worth checking her out maybe. She should be able to offer you references of people she has sold too.
Good luck with your hunt. I can't imagine my life without a pom.
Here is my little Gretel: 11/22/95 - 4/5/09
Here is my little Camille I got on 4/10/09 (she was born 2/12/09)
Camille weighs 3 pounds right now, and should weigh about 6 pounds grown.
Here is one more pic (I couldn't resist) This was last week in the car on the way home from North Carolina:
Hello and congratulations on choosing a Pomeranian... They have so much character (:
I would defiently recommend adopting your Pomeranian from a shelter or a family that can no longer care for it.
There are 2,000+ Pomeranians that are living in shelters waiting for homes - You'd be saving a life! [=
Petfinder.com has thousands of Poms for adoption and lots in Miami, Florida! - Here's the link:
I am definitely going to try to adopt my pomeranian before anything else. I spend more time on petfinder than you could possibly imagine =). I just want to make sure that I know of a breeder in case there aren't any puppies available at the time I am getting my pom. I want to rescue but I also want my first few weeks with a puppy to be the best they can be. I start classes in late August and I'd like to have a big chunk of potty training taken care of by then, just because once classes start my time with them will be only when I am home from classes or at work (I work for a dog training company, so they get to come along =) ). I certainly will spend enough time with them when in classes and working due to this ability but I dont know that I can potty train a puppy at work. For this reason I want to get the puppy asap in August once I move. I am going to try to adopt and will even be looking in the weeks before the move to see if I can work something out with the shelters to wait until I move to adopt them out. But if it doesnt work out I still want the first few weeks (and always of course, but especially this time) to be as quality as possible with whatever puppy finds me =). I appreciate these and any other responses! Thanks!
That sounds great,,, I'm so glad to hear you're a fellow adopter :)
I spend hours on Petfinder as well =P
It's lucky that you'll get to take your Pom for training classes; that really helps the bonding process.
Post some pictures of your new Pom once you get him/her (-8
Have fun with your Pom and thanks for considering adoption :D
